About

I began painting at a very early age. Squeezing paint out of the tubes draws out my emotions. Painting induces me to write a story about myself through  the subject matter of my work. Instinctively the motif is speaking, inviting me to paint. Magic and fantasy emerges and a story begins on canvas.

In observing I simplify and start composing with shapes and color.  I visualize myself in the atmosphere and have a sensation of directing a symphony, paint and brushes integrate with movement and expression. The colors sing and become alive. Creating in my studio surrounded by artworks, books cherished selected items and music draws out the child in me.

My currant representations are bold and simple where harmony and spontaneity echoes. I enjoy “plein air” painting, challenging and interacting with fellow artists brings me great gratification.  Greeting students in my space allows me to share this beautiful gift. Life is a big canvas where the colors of humanity blend.

Gisèle Lapalme

“Ma passion, le mouvement et l’expression.”

Gisèle est née sous le signe du Sagittaire, en 1953 â Iroquois Falls, Ontario.

Depuis un très jeune age je m’intéresse au dessin et à la peinture.  Mes parents m’encouragent et m’inscrivent en 1967 au Famous Artist School du Connecticut pour jeunes talentueux. Je reçois mon certificat en 1971 alors que j’étais employée pour le journal local de ma ville natale ou j’ai travaille pendant 7 ans,  ce qui m’a permis de développer d’avantage un goût pour l’art, par la création des annonces publicitaires. Motivée par la famille et amis, Gisèle s’inscrit a des cours de peinture offert par un collège dans le nord de l’Ontario.

Depuis, elle participe à plusieurs expositions solos, en groupe et symposiums du Québec et Ontario se méritant plusieurs prix et mentions.

On peut admirer 15 tableaux à l’aquarelle de personnages  sportifs dans la prestigieuse collection du Barrie Sports Hall of Fame Society, Barrie Ontario.

I was born under the sign of Sagittarius in 1953, Iroquois Falls, Ontario

Gisèle started at a very young age to develop an interest in art. Her parents encouraged her by enrolling her in a 4-year study course in 1967  with Famous Artist School of Connecticut founded by Norman Rockwell for young talented people. Inspired by nature and everyday life, Gisèle brings out a special atmosphere. The freshness and softness mingles with the magical creativity. A notion of unfinished fantasy invites us to appreciate her art work.

Motivated by her passion, family and friends, she participates in solo, group shows and symposiums in Quebec and Ontario, winning awards and mentions.

In the prestigious collection of the Barrie Sports Hall of Fame, hangs 15 watercolors of Sports figures, of which Gisèle painted two  recent paintings, Steve Atkinson, NHL hockey player and Carmen Redmond, muzzle loading discipline, who were  unveiled at the Induction ceremony, October 3, 2007.

Watercolors and oils are her favorite mediums. They allow me to express fluidity and spontaneity, movement and expression brings my art work alive and singing.
